Lakemont Blue - 21 micron Merino Wool Top (Combed Sliver)
Merino Wool Top (Combed Sliver)
Merino Wool Top is so incredibly soft against the skin. Merino Wool Top is great for Wet Felting, Needle Felting and also for spinning and other textile work.
Combed top a.k.a. Merino Wool Top, is a good choice when making nuno felt because it has a longer staple length which means less pilling. Because it has been steamed straight, it is not as light and airy as the Merino Short Fibre Batt which can help felters control the evenness when they are laying out their design or project. Merino roving is super soft, felts quickly, and has a fantastic smooth finished surface.
Merino Wool Top can be used in all applications. Whether you are making a jacket, scarf or a 3D piece of Art, it is easy to use. It blends great with other colors. For more os a controlled prefelt, you can use Merino Wool Top to make different colors of prefelts with layers of color.
Merino is an economically influential breed of sheep prized for its wool. The breed origins are from Spain, but the modern Merino was domesticated in Australia. Today, Merinos are still regarded as having some of the finest and softest wool of any sheep. Poll Merinos have no horns (or very small stubs, known as scurs), and horned Merino rams have long, spiral horns which grow close to the head. Merino is body temperature regulating as well so it will keep you nice and warm in the winter and cool in the summer.
All of our Merino Wool Tops come from Non-Mulesed Sheep so they are happy and treated with the utmost respect!
