Merino Wool Top - 21 Micron count
Merino Wool - 21 Micron Count
These Merino Wool Tops are so soft and fantastic to work with. This fibre is great for wet felting, nuno felting and also spinning up your favorite yarns. It is great for close to the skin projects. Merino Wool is also great for dyeing with Jacquard Acid Dyes
Combed Top a.k.a. Merino Wool Top, is a good choice when making nuno felt because it has a longer staple length which means less pilling. Because it has been steamed straight, it is not as light and airy as the Merino Short Fibre Batt which can help felters control the evenness when they are laying out their design or project. Merino Wool Top is super soft, felts quickly, and has a fantastic smooth finished surface.
Merino Wool Top can be used in all applications. Whether you are making a jacket, scarf or a 3D piece of Art, it is easy to use. It blends great with other colors. For more os a controlled prefelt, you can use Merino Wool Top to make different colors of prefelts with layers of color.
Merino Wool is an economically influential breed of sheep prized for its wool. The breed origins are from Spain, but the modern Merino was domesticated in Australia. Today, Merinos are still regarded as having some of the finest and softest wool of any sheep. Poll Merinos have no horns (or very small stubs, known as scurs), and horned Merino rams have long, spiral horns which grow close to the head. Merino is body temperature regulating as well so it will keep you nice and warm in the winter and cool in the summer.
Our Merino Wool conforms to the Oeko-Tex Standard 100, Product Class 1. This means that our fibres are non-toxic, colour fast and baby-safe.
We are proud and committed to only sell extrafine merino wool from non-mulesed flocks. The following is a link to more information on mulesing.
NOTE: All computers are different and the color that you see may not be exactly the color that the Merino is.
