Hand Dyed Merino Top

Hand Dyed Merino Wool Top

All of our hand dyed Merino Tops are either 21 micron count or 19 micron merino count.  We only use wool from non mulesed sheep so can guarantee that non our the sheep were harmed in the process of sheering.
Combed  Top a.k.a. Merino Wool Top, is a good choice when making nuno felt because it has a longer staple length which means less pilling. Because it has been steamed straight, it is not as light and airy as the Merino Short Fibre Batt which can help felters control the evenness when they are laying out their design or project. Merino Wool Top is super soft, felts quickly, and has a fantastic smooth finished surface.
Merino Wool Top can be used in all applications.  Whether you are making a jacket, scarf or a 3D piece of Art, it is easy to use.  It blends great with other colors.  For more os a controlled prefelt, you can use Merino Wool Top to make different colors of prefelts with layers of color.
Merino Wool is an economically influential breed of sheep prized for its wool. The breed origins are from Spain, but the modern Merino was domesticated in Australia. Today, Merinos are still regarded as having some of the finest and softest wool of any sheep. Poll Merinos have no horns (or very small stubs, known as scurs), and horned Merino rams have long, spiral horns which grow close to the head. Merino is body temperature regulating as well so it will keep you nice and warm in the winter and cool in the summer.
We do custom dying so if there is a specific color combination that you would like, please let me know.  All of the Tops are dyed with Jacquard Acid Dyesand are exhauseted so there is no bleeding.
Our Hand Dyed Merino comes in a variety of colors.
